The iPhone 5

I’ve never checked, but I have no doubt that there are probably rumors out there discussing what the iPhone 6 will be like. I know for a fact that I have already written vaguely about it’s OS, but I have never mentioned the device before.

The iPhone 6, however, is not what people are talking about right now because the prospect of the iPhone 5 is just around the corner. We know for a fact from Apple’s history that it will be one of two things: an iPhone 4S or a new iPhone 5. I see a 4S as more likely because Apple probably don’t need to release a new iPhone – there is no doubt that the iPhone 4 is the best phone on the market and the competition is no way near it in anyway: the screen, speed and design is simply better than anything else available.

If there is some sort of new iPhone coming out this year it will probably be a slimmer version of the iPhone 4, perhaps about the same thickness as the iPod Touch 4G. There are rumors that the home screen button will change slightly – possibly wider, but knowing the kind of design moves that Apple makes I think it will stay circular because it is thumb size and basically defines the style of the iPhone.

Ultimately, this year’s iPhone will be just a minor update, the OS will clearly be different, but most iPhone 4 users will just need to change the OS – very few will buy this next iPhone.

That is, of course, unless Apple do something mad.
